The Best Tik Tok Exercise Trends for Treadmills

TikTok has taken the world by storm! Even if you’re not on TikTok, it’s hard to escape the constant stream of TikTok trends being shared on Instagram and other social media platforms.

Did you know that one of the fastest growing themes on TikTok is FitTok? Thanks to fitness influencers sharing quick and viral workouts, it has never been easier to find fitness inspiration.

FitTok is all about short bursts of activity and keeping your workouts fun, with plenty of variety.

Best of all, you don’t have to be young and fit to be inspired by the latest FitTok trends.

We can totally get on board with that, so we’ve rounded up our two favourite FitTok workout trends so you can jump right in.

Our absolute favourite is the ‘treadmill strut’. This trend was started by TikTok user Allie Bennett and involves creating a 30-minute music playlist focused on a particular artist, genre, or mood.

Set a comfortable pace as a warm-up when the first song starts, then increase the pace of the treadmill by 0.1 miles (or kilometres) per hour every time the song changes.

When you get to the second-to-last song, increase the pace to jogging speed, then lower the pace back to a gentle walking speed for the last song as a cooldown.

Allie’s original treadmill strut playlist was based on Taylor Swift songs, but you can curate your own playlist or check out the hashtag #treadmillstrut to explore thousands of treadmill strut challenge videos and playlists on the TikTok platform.

The treadmill strut is fantastic for beginners, but if you want more of a challenge you might like to step up to the ’12-3-30’ workout.

This FitTok trend involves walking on the treadmill with a 12% incline, at 3 miles per hour (equivalent to 4.8km per hour), for 30 minutes.

Incline treadmill walking gets your heart rate up faster than the treadmill strut, giving you more of a cardio workout. It’s also a great option if you don’t enjoy running or jogging.

The 12-3-30 TikTok trend was created by user Lauren Giraldo in 2020 and has spread rapidly, thanks to its effectiveness in burning fat, building strength and increasing endurance.

So there you have it, our two favourite TikTok fitness trends to help you achieve your fitness goals in the comfort of your own home with a treadmill.
